Celine Thomas, a housewife. During her two years of marriage, she put all her attention on her husband Kaeden Deleon. Until one day, Kaeden threw her divorce papers. The reason, well very cliché, he fell in love with Celine's bestie and wanted to marry her. Seeing the intimate nude photos of the shameless couple, Celine felt humiliated. In fact, besides housewife, Celine had a hidden identity-- a famous lawyer. This time, she got a big case. If she won, her husband had to pay tens of billions of dollars. Such a good opportunity for revenge, how could she let go? "Honey, just wait and see, soon you will lose everything!"
"Mr. Deleon specifically asked me to go with him on this business trip. Last night, we set out on a yacht out to sea. It was so romantic I nearly wept."
"These are the diamond earrings he gave me. He bought them for 30 million dollars. He said I looked beautiful wearing them."
Alicia flaunted her head coquettishly.
There was a pair of diamond earrings on her ears, as well as hickies around her neck.
After one glance, Celine looked away in disgust.
She and Kaeden had been married for two years, but he had never so much as wished her happy birthday, much less get her gifts.
But now not only had he slept with her best friend, he had also gladly gifted her jewellery.
As the CEO of Deleon Group, Kaeden had hundreds of millions of assets at his young age.
A rich, young man like him couldn't stop women from throwing themselves into his arms, even if he had a ring on his finger.
Everyone had been jealous of Celine for having such an outstanding man for a husband in just two years' time.
However, this man couldn't wait till two years were fully over before getting himself a mistress.
What was even more ridiculous was that the mistress was her best friend!
"Celine, just let Kaeden be with me, please," Alicia Talley begged. "I'm the one he likes. If you keep on holding him back, it'll only be torturous for you two."
Celine curled her lip sarcastically, gentle eyes tinged with coldness. "Me? Holding him back? Are all mistresses nowadays as thick-skinned as you?"
Alicia looked wronged. "I know you're mad at me, but love is a different matter. Once you fall in love, it's hard to come out of it. Kaeden truly loves me. We're the ones who really belong to each other..."
Celine's eyes were hard and cold now. "The gall of you, Alicia Talley! You even dare go after the man I'm married to!"
Alicia's expression suddenly froze. "Don't be mean, Celine. How about I compensate you for whatever it is you need, so long as you don't torture my relationship with Kaeden anymore..."
Torture them?
Alicia dared speak about torture when she was the one who stole her best friend's husband?
Alicia bit her lower lip and continued, "Don't you understand, Celine? You've been married for two years, but Kaeden's barely been intimate with you. Isn't that enough to show that he doesn't love you?"
Hearing this, Celine sneered. She picked up a glass of water on the table and splashed it on Alicia's face.
The water was scalding hot, making Alicia jump up from her chair, screaming, "What the hell, Celine?!"
Celine glanced at her indifferently and said, "I thought you might be thirsty after talking so much."
Alicia stared at her speechlessly.
Celine got up from her chair and stared down at the woman before her. "A good splash of water is the best way to beat off wh*res like you. You'd better think twice before provoking me again, or it won't just be hot water in your face."
She took out some cash from her purse and tossed them on the ground. "Since you were a wh*re, you'd better behave yourself from now on. Come to me like this again and I'll make sure you leave bleeding."
After that, Celine got up and left without looking back.
The makeup on Alicia's face had run. She glared at Celine's retreating, with hatred in her eyes.
"Just you wait, Celine Thomas. I'll make sure you're knocked off your pedestal!"
Celine had gone back to the North Road Apartment.
This house was bought as Celine and Kaeden's love nest when they wedded.
Although it was just an apartment, its market value was high. Its price easily surpassed that of a villa.
Aunt Greta, one of their maids, saw Celine return and greeted her with a smile. "You're back, Madam? Dinner is ready if you'd like to eat first."
Celine haggardly went straight to her room. "No thanks. I'm not hungry right now."
Aunt Greta wanted to persuade her further, but she had already shut her room door.
The master bedroom was spacious, but even though it was beautifully decorated, it still felt empty.
Celine knew this was a projection, however. It was really her heart that was empty.
She crouched down to open a drawer from the bedside table, taking out her and Kaeden's marriage certificate.
The image of her on the photo looked happy, eyes glowing brightly and her young face beaming with happiness.
Kaeden looked handsome, but his lips were pursed tightly, eyes sharp. It was obvious he hadn't been willing to get married.
He hadn't even been kind enough to smile on the day they got this photo taken, no matter it was just for show.
Celine had long known this man did not love her, much less marry her.
But at that time, she had really thought that as long as she was enthusiastic enough, she could make him feel differently.
But it turned out she had been wrong. Heartbreakingly so.
Two years had passed, but his attitude towards her remained as indifferent as ever.
Celine closed her eyes in pain, her lashes shiny with tears.
The wedding photo was thrown into the trash can, the bride's smile on it frozen in time.
Celine was no longer the young, innocent woman she used to be.
It was time to let go of everything that wasn't hers.
She went to the bathroom, the sound of running water filling the room.
